Sizes that platforms ask for

  • Twitch emotes: uploaded in three sizes, 28, 56 and 112 px square, as PNG. Start from a big square picture so the small ones stay readable.
  • Subscriber badges: 18, 36 and 72 px.
  • Discord emoji: 128 px square is a good size.

Platforms update their rules, so check the upload page for the current sizes and file limits.

Make small emotes readable

  • Use a thick outline and few colours.
  • Zoom out until the face fills the square.
  • Check the 28 px version on a dark and a light background.
  • Use Keep the whole picture with a transparent border if you do not want to crop.

Questions

Is my picture uploaded?

No. It is resized in this tab and the files are made on your device.

Why do my emotes look blurry?

Start from a larger picture. Shrinking a big sharp square gives a better 28 px emote than enlarging a small one.
