Record first: a stream that never loses a moment

Normal live streaming sends your picture the instant it exists. Record first lets viewers watch a little behind your recording, so a stall in your internet skips nothing, a break covers its whole stretch, and a mistake can be cut before anyone sees it.

Two ways to go live

Live now sends your picture right away with the least delay: best when you talk with chat. Record first keeps your recording as the master and lets viewers watch 10 seconds to 30 minutes behind: best for gaming, events and anything you cannot afford to lose.

You choose per stream, and your recording on the PC is always the complete, full-quality original in either mode. Gaming and IRL start on Record first by themselves.

What it does for you, with nothing to set up

  • A stall skips nothing. If your internet stops, Streamdzy keeps what was not sent yet on your disk and carries on from where it stopped, in order. The platform sees a pause while you are offline, then everything that follows, with no second missing in the middle.
  • Mistakes. Hit Dump 10 s, 30 s or 60 s to cut the last seconds out before viewers see them.
  • Breaks. Press Break or put Be right back on air and viewers get that screen for the whole stretch you chose, then the show comes back. What happened behind the screen is never sent.

Add a free relay and viewers do not even see the pause

A small relay sits between your PC and the platforms. It runs on your own free Cloudflare account: Streamdzy sets it up for you from a Cloudflare token you paste once (the token is used for the setup and not kept). With it, a drop shorter than the delay never reaches viewers at all (we tested a 6 second cut with no stalls for viewers), your PC uploads once even when you go live to several places, and a second network (a phone on a cable) can carry the stream if the first one stops.

Nothing of yours goes through Streamdzy servers, and the relay is inside Cloudflare’s free plan for one streamer.

Measured

We rehearse a whole show in the real app against a stand-in platform: Starting soon, scene changes with a video stinger, name bars, Be right back and the Ending, with the stream 20 seconds behind. Every check passed: the platform received every second that was on air, with no time jumps, 30 pictures a second and a clean decode, and the Be right back covered exactly the stretch it was chosen for. (A bug that showed viewers the show behind a Be right back when you pressed Stop inside the delay was found and fixed by this test.)

Honest limits

Record first adds delay by design, so it is not the mode for fast back-and-forth with chat. From your PC alone a long internet outage shows as a pause on the platform (it continues in order afterwards); the relay is what hides it. The relay needs a free Cloudflare account; setting it up takes a few minutes. The delay waits on your disk, so it needs room for the delay times your bit rate: about 15 MB for 20 seconds at 6 Mbps.

Questions

Is this like Restream or StreamYard?

Those services run your video through their servers. Record first runs on your PC (and, if you want the extra cover, a relay on your own Cloudflare account), so the video stays yours, and the point is delay-and-cover, not only restreaming.

How long can the delay be?

From 10 seconds to 30 minutes. 20 seconds is the recommended default; 60 seconds suits mobile data and trains.

Do I need to pay or set anything up?

No. Record first is included and works from your PC with no setup. The relay is optional, free, and runs on your own Cloudflare account, which costs us nothing.

Want all of this in one app?

Streamdzy is a free streaming and recording app for Windows: several cameras, your phone as a camera, going live to many places at once, and recording first so a bad connection never costs you the show.
