Streaming Software for a Laptop
Stream from a laptop with the lid open, on battery or plugged in: a light app with cameras, scenes and a record-first safety net for a shaky connection.
The short answer
A laptop can stream well with Streamdzy when it has a steady connection and power. Plug it in, close heavy programs, and run the Health check first to see the picture quality it can keep.
How to do it in Streamdzy
- Add each platform once under Settings, Go live and paste its stream key. The key is kept encrypted on your PC.
- Tick the places you want on and press Go live. Your PC encodes the show once and sends it to each one.
- Watch the scene, the chat and the connection in one window. Press a scene or an alert whenever you need it.
- Press Stop when you are done. The recording of the whole show is already saved on your PC.
What to know first
Your upload speed is the real limit: every place needs its own copy of your picture. The installer is for Windows; Mac and Linux builds are not published yet. Run the upload speed test before a long show.
Questions
Should I plug in the laptop while streaming?
Yes. Streaming uses a lot of power and heat, and a laptop on battery can throttle its processor, which drops frames.
Want all of this in one app?
Streamdzy is a free streaming and recording app for Windows: several cameras, your phone as a camera, going live to many places at once, and recording first so a bad connection never costs you the show.
