Bitrate for a 1080p Stream
The bitrate for a 1080p stream, what the platforms suggest and how to choose it from your upload speed in Streamdzy.
The short answer
A 1080p stream at 60 frames a second usually needs about 6,000 kbps on Twitch and YouTube. Check your upload first, and keep spare capacity for the rest of your household.
How to do it in Streamdzy
- Add each platform once under Settings, Go live and paste its stream key. The key is kept encrypted on your PC.
- Tick the places you want on and press Go live. Your PC encodes the show once and sends it to each one.
- Watch the scene, the chat and the connection in one window. Press a scene or an alert whenever you need it.
- Press Stop when you are done. The recording of the whole show is already saved on your PC.
What to know first
Your upload speed is the real limit: every place needs its own copy of your picture. The installer is for Windows; Mac and Linux builds are not published yet. Run the upload speed test before a long show.
Questions
Is 6000 kbps good for 1080p?
It is a common target for 1080p60. If your upload is slower, the picture quality setting lowers the bitrate rather than dropping frames.
Want all of this in one app?
