Fix Dropped Frames While Streaming

What dropped frames mean on a live stream and the steps that fix them: lower the picture quality, close other programs and check the upload.

The short answer

Dropped frames mean the PC or the connection cannot keep up. Lower the picture quality, close programs you do not need, and run the upload speed test to find which one is the problem.

How to do it in Streamdzy

  1. Add each platform once under Settings, Go live and paste its stream key. The key is kept encrypted on your PC.
  2. Tick the places you want on and press Go live. Your PC encodes the show once and sends it to each one.
  3. Watch the scene, the chat and the connection in one window. Press a scene or an alert whenever you need it.
  4. Press Stop when you are done. The recording of the whole show is already saved on your PC.

What to know first

Your upload speed is the real limit: every place needs its own copy of your picture. The installer is for Windows; Mac and Linux builds are not published yet. Run the upload speed test before a long show.

Questions

How many dropped frames are too many?

A few during a long stream is normal. A steady stream of dropped frames means the picture quality is set too high for your PC or your upload.

Want all of this in one app?

Streamdzy is a free streaming and recording app for Windows: several cameras, your phone as a camera, going live to many places at once, and recording first so a bad connection never costs you the show.
