Record a Coding Tutorial in VS Code

Record a VS Code coding tutorial with the editor, the terminal and your voice, for a lesson, a course or a channel.

The short answer

Capture the editor window, add your voice, and record. Make the font large enough to read in the file.

How to do it in Streamdzy

  1. Choose what to record: the whole screen, one window, a browser tab, or a camera. The choice is under Recordings.
  2. Turn on your microphone if you want your voice. It is saved on its own track.
  3. Press Record, and use Mark at the moments you want to find again.
  4. Press Stop. The session folder holds the finished file, each source, and the log of marks.

What to know first

Recordings use your PC’s disk, so check the free space before a long session. For calls and meetings, get everyone’s agreement before you record. Other people’s rules still apply.

Questions

Will the code be readable on small screens?

Make the font larger before you record, since phones show less.

Want all of this in one app?

Streamdzy is a free streaming and recording app for Windows: several cameras, your phone as a camera, going live to many places at once, and recording first so a bad connection never costs you the show.
