Record on an Older Hard Disk

Record on an older hard disk or a slow SSD without dropping frames: use a lower quality and check the disk speed before a session.

The short answer

Choose a quality the disk keeps up with, close other programs that write to the disk, and keep free space. A slow disk is a common cause of stutters.

How to do it in Streamdzy

  1. Choose what to record: the whole show, one camera, or the screen. The choice is under Recordings.
  2. Press Record. The finished show and each camera are saved as their own files, written in pieces so a crash loses seconds.
  3. Press Mark at a moment you want to find again. The log keeps those marks next to the files.
  4. Press Stop. The session folder opens with the show, the cameras, your voice and the log.

What to know first

Recordings use your PC’s disk: a long 4K session needs a lot of free space, and Streamdzy stops a recording when the disk is nearly full. Check what your computer can do with the PC test.

Questions

Will a slow disk ruin a recording?

It can. Lower the quality or move recordings to a faster drive.

Want all of this in one app?

Streamdzy is a free streaming and recording app for Windows: several cameras, your phone as a camera, going live to many places at once, and recording first so a bad connection never costs you the show.
