Check Your Phone Camera Frame Rate

Check the frame rate your phone camera actually gives, not the number on the box, before a stream.

The short answer

Use the webcam test to see the real frame rate in your room. A phone can report 30 frames a second while producing fewer in dim light.

How to do it in Streamdzy

  1. On the PC press Connect. A code and a QR code appear.
  2. Scan the code with the phone’s camera. The phone’s browser opens Streamdzy’s camera page.
  3. Press Start on the phone. It becomes a camera you can cut to, place and style in the scene.
  4. For the sharpest copy, let the phone keep its own full-quality recording; it is sent to the PC when you stop.

What to know first

A phone is a camera, not a second computer: its battery, heat and camera settings set the picture. Wi-Fi works well; a USB cable gives the steadiest picture. Use the webcam test to check the light.

Questions

Why does the box say 30 but the picture is slower?

The box shows the setting. The camera can produce fewer frames in dim light, so check the real rate in your room.

Want all of this in one app?

Streamdzy is a free streaming and recording app for Windows: several cameras, your phone as a camera, going live to many places at once, and recording first so a bad connection never costs you the show.
