A lifeline for a weak connection

When your upload drops, the stream steps down to a smaller picture and a clear voice instead of freezing. When it recovers, it steps back up.

What it does

The lifeline sends a smaller version of the stream when your upload cannot carry the full one: down to 426×240 or smaller, with your voice at 32 kbps mono. The whole stream stays under 100 kbps on the lowest step. It steps back up by itself when the connection is good again.

A second network as backup

If you have a second connection (a phone on mobile data, for example), Streamdzy can send the stream over it when the first one fails. Check the Connections screen to see which networks answer.

What we measured

On the lowest steps we measured between 58 and 172 kbps across the ladder. Test it on your own connection with the upload speed test before a show.

Turn it off if you want

It is on by default and you can switch it off under Go live, under more choices. A stream with the lifeline off stays at the picture quality you chose, and may freeze on a weak line.

Questions

Will viewers notice the drop?

They see a smaller picture for a while instead of a frozen one. The sound stays clear.

Does it need a second internet line?

No. It works on one line; a second network is an extra backup.

Want all of this in one app?

Streamdzy is a free streaming and recording app for Windows: several cameras, your phone as a camera, going live to many places at once, and recording first so a bad connection never costs you the show.
