What Notion is genuinely great at
Notion's core idea — that a page can be a database, and a database can be viewed six different ways — is one of the best ideas in modern software. For a team wiki, documentation, a CRM, a content calendar or a shared knowledge base, it's close to unbeatable, and one Notion workspace really can retire three other subscriptions.
It's also very pleasant to use once you're fluent, which is a real quality that shouldn't be sneered at. People love Notion. That love is earned.
Where it falls down
Two things, and only one of them is Notion's fault.
The first is the learning curve. Databases, relations and rollups are real computer-science concepts wearing friendly clothes, and you have to hold them in your head. This is why "finally understanding Notion" is an entire content genre with a YouTube economy attached to it. Setup tutorials run past forty minutes.
The second isn't really a flaw, it's a mismatch: Notion has no opinion about time. A Notion task can have a date property, but the page has no width, so nothing in it can ever be too long to fit in a day. You can put eleven hours of work into Tuesday and Notion will render it beautifully. This is the origin of the Sunday-dashboard problem — the system-building feels productive because it is productive, just not at the thing you sat down to do.
Worth knowing on cost: Notion AI now lives on the Business tier. Plus is $10 per user per month annually ($12 monthly) and Business is $20 ($24 monthly), so what used to be $8 Plus plus a $10 AI add-on is now $20 a seat.
How Fuidzy is different
Fuidzy has one screen, and it's a line. Time is drawn as physical width, so a two-hour task is literally twice as wide as a one-hour one and eleven hours visibly does not fit into nine. There's nothing to configure before first use — no workspace to name, no database to design, no choice between PARA and GTD before you're allowed to write down "dentist, Thursday."
And a lane holds one thing at a time, so nothing lands on top of anything else by accident — want parallel tracks, you add a lane on purpose. Notion will let you stack three things on one hour and say nothing at all.
| Notion | Fuidzy | |
|---|---|---|
| Core metaphor | Pages and databases | A day, drawn |
| Time as a dimension | A date property | Physical width |
| Setup before first task | Real decisions | None |
| Stops you over-committing | No | Yes, out loud |
| Team wiki | Yes — far better | Basic pages |
| Price for the full thing | $10–20/user/mo | $0 |
Use Notion if you need shared documentation, structured databases, or a team knowledge base. Nothing here replaces that, and we won't pretend otherwise.
Use Fuidzy if your actual problem is that the plan never survives contact with the day — and keep Notion for the wiki. Plenty of people run both; they're not competing for the same hour.
