Fuidzy vs Microsoft 365: six answers to "where do I put this task"

If your employer pays for Microsoft 365 you already have five or six task surfaces and no guidance on which to use. That isn't a joke at Microsoft's expense — it's roughly what the official documentation says. For personal planning, the sprawl is the problem.

What the Microsoft stack is genuinely great at

It's already deployed, already paid for, already compliant, and already approved by your IT department. For an organisation, that is an enormous and underrated advantage. Teams' free tier also has no message history cap, which is a real win over Slack's 90 days.

OneNote is a genuinely excellent free notebook — infinite canvas, handwriting, no catch.

Where it falls down

Here is the actual guidance, paraphrased from Microsoft's own docs: use To Do for personal tasks. Use Planner for team projects and assigned work. Use Lists for structured information like trackers. Use the Tasks app in Teams to see it all in one place. Use Loop as the co-creation layer connecting Teams, Planner and SharePoint. Use OneNote for capturing notes — which is different from Loop, which is for building content together.

That's six products and a decision tree before you write anything down. And because each one is defensible on its own, none of them can be removed.

How Fuidzy is different

There is one surface. Personal work and shared work are the same timeline with different visibility, not different applications. Nobody has to be told which app to use, because there isn't a second one.

The verdict

Use Microsoft if your work life is already inside it — fighting your employer's stack is a losing game and we're not suggesting it.

Use Fuidzy if the part you actually want to fix is your own day, which is the part the suite handles worst.

Fuidzy is a free timeline planner. No install, no setup, no credit card.
