Step 1: Find the key
Use the key finder on the beat file. Note the key and whether it is major or minor.
Step 2: Set the pitch tool
Choose the same key and scale. Notes outside the scale are then treated as errors and pulled to the nearest allowed note.
Step 3: Check the result
- Listen with the beat playing.
- If many notes are being moved a long way, the vocal is in the wrong key. Shift the vocal or the beat.
- If a note sounds wrong after tuning, the key or scale may not match: try the relative major or minor.
Limits
Songs that use blue notes or change key need a looser scale or manual correction. A tool works with the scale you give it, so a wrong key gives wrong results.

Frequently asked questions
What if the beat has no clear key?
Try the key finder, then confirm by ear. Some beats are ambiguous.
Should I use a chromatic scale?
Use it when the song does not follow a single key.
Why do some tuned notes sound wrong?
The key or scale is probably set wrong. Check the relative major or minor.
