What Things 3 is genuinely great at
Taste. Every animation, every keyboard shortcut, every default in Things 3 has been considered by someone who cared. The Today view is the clearest expression of "here is what you are doing" in the category, and there's no subscription — $49.99 on Mac, $19.99 on iPad, $9.99 on iPhone, and then it's yours.
In an era of $20-a-seat everything, that deserves respect.
Where it falls down
It's Apple-only, which for a large share of people is the whole answer. And like every list-shaped app, Today will happily show you a list that cannot physically be completed today, because the items have no length.
How Fuidzy is different
We're Windows and web, free, and built on a timeline instead of a list. What we don't have is eight years of polish — Things has been refined longer than we've existed, and in a straight fight on craft, they win.
Use Things 3 if you're in the Apple ecosystem, value design highly, and would rather buy software once than rent it. It's a great purchase.
Use Fuidzy if you're on Windows, want time drawn rather than listed, or aren't spending $80 to find out whether a task app fixes your week.
