What the category is genuinely great at
Loop Habit Tracker is free, open source, private and uses a smarter strength score than a raw streak. Streaks is beautiful and deliberately caps you at six habits. Habitica turns the whole thing into an RPG with real party accountability, which works well for people gamification actually reaches. Daylio logs mood in about fifteen seconds with no writing at all. Way of Life gets the most important detail right — it has a genuine "skip" state, distinct from failure.
Where they fall down
Two structural issues. First, a habit tracker is a second place to go, usually at night, to report on a day that already happened — which is the least motivating possible moment to open an app. Second, streak anxiety is real: as the chain gets longer the pressure rises, and when it finally breaks the visual reset to zero reads as total failure rather than one missed Tuesday.
How Fuidzy is different
A habit here is scheduled work on the same timeline as everything else, in the app you already had open. There's no separate confession screen. The grid behind it distinguishes three states — done, missed, and never asked — so a weekend or a holiday doesn't render as a gap in a chain. And moving a habit to a new time moves every future one with it, while leaving the past exactly as it happened.
Use Loop or Streaks if you only want habits and nothing else — both are good and Loop is free.
Use Habitica if gamification genuinely works on you. Nothing we build will beat it on that.
Use Fuidzy if you've abandoned three habit apps already and suspect the separate-app-and-reset-to-zero pattern was the reason.
